Downstream Access
Postal regulation was brought to an end in January 2006 and full competition was introduced into the UK’s mail system. Ending Royal Mail’s 350 year monopoly, other organisations can now act as postal operators and collect, sort and distribute mail in the UK. For certain formats of mail it is now possible to make considerable postage savings using DownStream Access (DSA) providers. You could even achieve a 2 day delivery time cheaper than other products currently available in the marketplace.

Your mail is still hand delivered by Royal Mail as usual, but instead of Royal Mail collecting the mail from us and sorting at their regional depots it is delivered into the local Royal Mail delivery offices by our DSA providers after we have already sorted it.
This is where the cost saving happens. By providing the initial sortation up to the “final mile” cheaper than Royal Mail, these cost savings can then be pased onto our clients
